Our Process |

In
the Vineyard: We have been hard at work pulling leaves
from fruit clusters to allow better ripening by the sun. When most leaves are removed from the east
side of a vine, the warming of the fruit lessens acidity and increases
tropical flavors. This partial shade helps protect the fruit
from too much heat in hot summer afternoons. This balance of
viticulture art helps transform our vineyard's fruit to the world’s
best
beverage! The vineyard at Pearmund Cellars, named Meriwether Vineyard, was established in 1976. As one of Virginia's oldest vineyards, our winery's new Chardonnay label respects this venerable age by proclaiming an “Old Vine” vintage. This is the first Old Vine wine to be labeled as such in Virginia. We are proud to continue leading and promoting Virginia’s wine quality as it becomes known and enjoyed all over the world. In
the Winery: Many of you have been contacting us about
hosting family reunions, corporate retreats, and special birthday
parties. We recommend that you read our private
tasting guide, then contact
Christopher Day,
our Director of
Education and Hospitality, to start
planning your celebration.
Children, pets, and individuals with special needs are always welcome
at
Pearmund Cellars. And, we have contracts with a variety of top-quality
caterers who can tailor and
personalize menus to meet almost any

required
to use our caterers, we prefer that you do and reserve the right to
approve any caterer you wish to bring on the premises. Pearmund
Cellar's capable staff
makes planning your private tasting easy and exciting -- just pair your
unlimited imagination with our creative hospitality expertise.
