Dear Wine Lovers,

Shelly's Shout Out
What is happening at Pearmund Cellars
by Shelly Nasworthy
Shelly Lots of great events have been happening here at Pearmund Cellars in the last month including Girl's Night Out and Thank Goodness its Friday.  We had a very nice crowd for both events, wine lovers enjoying a great sunset, friendships, and great wine.  We've got another Girls Night Out scheduled for September 10, 2009.  Please check out the website for more details and specials on our wines that night. So leave the fellas at home and spend and evening under the stars with your girlfriends.

Speaking of Fridays, we have had such a great time with all of our customers on Friday afternoons that we have decided to extend our Friday closing hours.  We will be open until 8pm during the month of September and October.  We've noticed how you settle in, we've seen that you're deep in conversation, we know you all want a glass of wine while watching the sunset in the vineyard, looking at the grapes as the plump, and watching the fireflies as they wish you goodnight with their luminous glow.  (Please see our events page for the extended Friday extended hours.

Have you met our new Wine Maker?  Kristen Parson comes to us as a vineyard researcher at Snoqualmie Vineyard and Canadaigua Vineyards in Connecticut.  Kristen earned her degree in business adminstration from Babson College, degree in Enology and Viticulture from Washington State University.  Please come in and introduce yourself to her as she is new to the Pearmund Cellars Family.

Mark your Calendars!  Next Summer join Chris Pearmund on an extraordinary wine cruise on the Rhone River, as we visit the quaint and historic wineries of Burgundy and Provence.  The 7-night cruise will be aboard the 132-guest River Royale, a luxury floating hotel.  Onboard, Chris Pearmund will be hosting a cocktail reception and wine tastings, and shore-side excursions.  Chris invites you to join him for am optional food-and-wine paring meal and wine-themed shore excursions.  If you would like more information on this cruise, please contact Jim at Cruise Holidays at Alexandria, 1-866-368-7327 or online at www.luxurycruisecoulnselors.com

I hope you will come visit us soon.  Our Riesling is my summer go to wine, our Petit Verdot after a long day at the winery is always a nice way to wind down.  You can always find a wine you will love.  See you at the winery!
Pearmund Honeybees Offer First Time Bounty to Winery Customers
Notes from the Beekeeper
by Keith Fletcher
Did you know that there's more than grape vines on the Pearmund Cellars estate?  Only a couple hundred yards away from the tasting room are more than 100,000 buzzing bees flying and collecting wildflower nectar to make into the tastiest purest golden honey you've tasted.  Now, this honey is ready and for sale in the tasting room.

The bees have pretty much wrapped up their part of the honey production, but local beekeeper and Chris's friend, Keith Fletcher of Gainesville, recently harvested over 120 pounds of golden ambrosia in late July.  Keith is only a weekend beekeeper hobbyist but is proud to offer Pearmund customers this years' harvest of 100% pure local honey.  This harvest is the first ever offered for sale in the tasting room.  Now, the local Pearmund Cellars bees are able to provide their own honey, and give customers a taste of the wildflowers which bloom among the grape vines.  Perhaps some of the nectar blended into the honey is from the short lived grape blossom themselves. Today, Keith Fletcher who took over management of the bee yard in 2007, only harvests honey but also rears and sells honey bee queen there as part of a sustainable agriculture project to support local beekeepers.  Anyone interested in learning more about bees or becoming a beekeeper should visit the website at http://www.pwrbeekeepers.com.
Vint Hill Craft Winery
Vint Hill Craft WineryHave you visited the newest member of our wine family?  Vint Hill Craft Winery has opened and is a place you really should visit.  We already know you love wine, now we want to give you the opportunity to have a hand in creating a wine you love, now we want to give you the opportunity to create your idea of the perfect Chardonnay or Cabernet Sauvignon or Bordeaux Blend or whatever wine it is that truly delights you.  With the guidance of Vint Hill's expert winemaking team including executive winemaker Chris Pearmund, you can be there every step of the way and, at the end, you'll be the proud owner of the product of the barrel that you've been a part of since the grapes inside are harvested.  Each bottle will even be labeled with the label of your own design.  It's unique, it's exciting, the winery is outfitted with state-of-the-art winemaking equipment and you can learn all about it by visiting www.vinthillcraftwinery.com.  There you can get more detailed information about Craft Winery along with directions to the facility (it's conveniently located between Gainesville and Warrenton just off Rt. 29).  Once there, the staff will be proud to show off the place a bit and talk through the process of what will be going on there.
