Pearmund Cellars (voted Virginia’s Best Winery and Winemaker several years running), owner and executive winemaker, Chris Pearmund and Ashton Lough Viognier journey has reached a peak this year! Pearmund Cellars 2013 Viognier has been awarded 90 pts by the World Wide Championships.

Chris PearmuViognier2013 awardnd: "In tasting French Viogniers for a few decades, I am always amazed how good the ones from Virginia are in comparison.  Most often Virginia is better and less expensive!"

Video clip below (start at 6:00) is a review from Gary Vaynerchuk, New York Times and Wall Street Journal Best-Selling author, self-taught wine expert, and serial entrepreneur, of our Viognier from 2007.

A few comments from Gary: "this is good stuff, boatload of fruit, still tasting it while I'm talking to you, long melon, lemons and limes, very creamy...! If I could just get 1/40th that drink Chardonnay to try, it is a game changer. Viognier rocks it.  Without question, better than the Viognier's of California, they are a little flat, this wine brings tremendus thunder. One of the better I have tasted in awhile, 91+". @garyvee

As the state grape of Virginia, Viognier is a popular and well loved wine for hot Virginia summers. With fruity notes like guava, peach and apricot, this medium-bodied wine is smooth and wonderful.

When pairing a Viognier, you should focus on foods that will highlight its flavors. Thai Dishes with mild spices, fruity chicken dishes and seafood all pair great with the light fruity flavors in the Viognier.

Viognier is grown all over the world but most notably in Argentina, Virginia, France, California and Canada.

Looking for a great Viognier to try out? Pearmund Cellars 2013 Viognier just won 90 Points from the World Wine Championships!
